Do I have to be based in the USA in order to become a member?

No. You do not have to be based in any particular country to join this directory. We welcome all Black women painters to join! Although most members are currently based in the USA, not all. Our goal is to be a global platform and directory for Black women painters, especially in places where representation is limited. The more Black women artists from a variety of countries join our directory, the more we can focus on more geographic-centered marketing for our directory and provide opportunities for said members.

If I become a BGWP Member, does that guarantee a post(s) on BGWP social media platforms?

No. Becoming a BGWP member grants access to your associated member level benefits. Our social media platforms highlight the stories of Black women painters and our art, members and non-members (occasionally). Features on social media depend on our posting guidelines (high-quality photo and associated caption) and schedule (themes, announcements, campaigns, etc). We have a private members-only Instagram page that is used to repost active members who post or submit photos that meet our guidelines.

Do you accept paid promotions or social media advertising?

No. BGWP social media platforms only features BGWP members, initiatives, partners, resources, and marketing campaigns (#BGWPartmoms, #iRockMyBGWP, etc.). All of our resources are now going towards our members and Award Fund. There may be occasions where we open our social media platforms to non-members or organizations. These occasions will be free and announced accordingly.

I was a monthly BGWP member and canceled my membership, now only yearly memberships are available. Do I still have to pay a yearly fee to rejoin?

Yes, you will have to pay the full current yearly membership fee to rejoin. The way that membership sites work is that the membership allows you to have access to the content/benefits from the date you paid. Since BGWP only offers a yearly membership, this is the same if you are a member for 1 month, 6, or 12, regardless of if your Member Listing is active (all Member Listings and updates must be approved before made active on our website to ensure completion and accuracy). There are no pauses. Once you cancel or your membership ends, your access is removed. You will need to start a new yearly membership in order to regain access.
