No. Although most BGWP Directory Artists and Members are currently based in the USA, not all. Our goal is to be a global platform and directory for Black women painters, especially in places where representation is limited. The more Black women artists from a variety of countries join our directory, the more we can focus on more geographic-centered marketing for our directory and provide opportunities for said members.
No. Becoming a BGWP Directory Artist or BGWP Member grants access to the BGWP Directory and member benefits (if you're a BGWP Member). Our social media platforms highlight the stories of Black women painters and our art, members and non-members at times. Features on social media depend on our posting guidelines (high-quality photo and associated caption), schedule (themes, announcements, campaigns, etc), and active participation. BLACK GIRLS WHO PAINT maintains creative integrity (content & posts) across our platforms at all times.
No. BGWP social media platforms only features BGWP Directory Artists (including BGWP Members), initiatives, partners, resources, and marketing campaigns (#BGWPartmoms, #iRockMyBGWP, etc.). These occasions are free and announced accordingly.
All artists (including BGWP Directory Artists) interested in joining the BGWP Membership must go through the intake process and submit their application during the enrollment period. If accepted into the membership, a BGWP Directory Artist will then be able to upgrade to a BGWP Member.
Yes, a BGWP Member can downgrade at anytime within their yearly membership; however, there is no refund. Once you downgrade, your renewal date will remain the same and your next renewal fee will be $33.00 instead of $111.00.
As we’re improving our membership process, all renewals must submit an application to continue their access as a BGWP Member.
In rare occasions, past members were found to have violated the guidelines of our BGWP Membership program, which leads to automatic expulsion from the program. Upon expulsion, individuals are notified from Sasha-Loriene (Founder of BGWP) directly and unable to rejoin the organization. Any associated information such as email address, credit card information or other personally identifiable information will be blocked from our membership system. The goal of our membership is to provide a safe space and community for Black women artists. Any behaviors to the contrary will not be tolerated.
