BLACK GIRLS WHO PAINT (BGWP) presents Femininity Defined, an online group exhibition examining divine femininity independent of the female body. This exhibition challenges the western framing of femininity, whereas femininity is commonly defined by adherence to beauty standards and societal gender roles while masculinity is commonly defined by one's attributes and presence. With less emphasis on bodily identifiers, the artists are free to explore what Divine Femininity looks like for them through their choice of materials. As a result, the audience is invited to think outside the box and further conceptualize femininity in their own everyday lives.
